DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY- NEW JERSEY

The world’s premier conservation organization, The Nature Conservancy, seeks a Director of Philanthropy in New Jersey to lead the fundraising and major gifts efforts in support of the Conservancy’s statewide, regional and global conservation priorities around the world.

This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the strategic fundraising vision for global conservation. The Director of Philanthropy plays a key leadership role in motivating and coordinating the multi-disciplinary New Jersey staff and volunteer leaders in collaborative fundraising efforts. S/he has management responsibility for the 7-person New Jersey philanthropy team, which encompasses major and principal gifts functions, planned giving, donor prospecting and research, and multi-year fundraising campaigns. Serving on the New Jersey senior management team and working with the Board of Trustees, the Director of Philanthropy will help establish priorities for our state and regional conservation consistent with global organizational priorities and ensure integration of the philanthropy program with these priorities.

S/he also works with leadership and philanthropy staff on the broader NYC metropolitan area as well as with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and senior philanthropy leaders organization-wide to maximize major and principal gifts revenue for North American and Global conservation priorities.

Required: undergrad degree, 7+ years fundraising including a track record asking for and closing major gifts of six figures and greater, experience managing and supervising a multi-disciplinary team, ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with major foundation donors, and knowledge of current and evolving trends in major gifts giving and solicitation.  Location:  Chester, New Jersey (NJ).
